How Laser Wattage Affects Performance

1. Power vs. Speed

Laser wattage significantly impacts processing speed. Higher wattage allows the machine to work faster by delivering more energy per pulse, making it ideal for high-volume production.

Example:

A 100W fiber laser can engrave a 1mm-deep logo on aluminum in 13 minutes.

A 300W laser would take 30 minutes for the same task due to its lower power output.

2. Power vs. Precision

Higher wattage lasers excel at cutting thicker materials but may compromise precision in fine-detail applications. Lower wattage machines, however, produce finer lines, sharper edges, and detailed engravings.

Example:

A 20W fiber laser creates precise barcodes or QR codes on small metal parts with high accuracy.

The 2000W continuous laser can cut 5 mm thick aluminum, and the cut edges may be slightly wider.
