As we approach the end of 2025, Cutis reflects on a year filled with growth, collaboration, and meaningful progress. From global training initiatives and clinical developments to emphasizing ethical standards, our focus on patient care, education, and innovation has remained consistent.

Improving ethical standards in aesthetic medicine

Ethics remained a major focus of our work in 2025. Dr. Sylvia Ramirez and team continued to support and highlight the importance of responsible, patient-centered practices:

• Ethics publications and thought leadership: Our paper, The Primacy of Ethics in Aesthetic Medicine: A Review, was published on PubMed Central. It was featured in panel discussions, including a Medscape-supported initiative aimed at raising standards of care.
• Book chapter contributions: Our new book chapter, Redefining Medical Ethics in Esthetic Practice, explored how patient empowerment and professional responsibility must go hand in hand to ensure safe, evidence-based, and ethical practices.

Training and education were major focuses this year, with the Cutis team both learning from global experts and mentoring fellow practitioners:

• Masterclasses and workshops: Dr. Sylvia conducted OnabotulinumtoxinA masterclasses across Australia. She also led HA Microdroplet Injectable training sessions for Allergan Aesthetics.
• International speaking engagements: She shared insights at events including AMWC Monaco, AMI SIGNATURE in Seoul, the SkinCeuticals Scientific Meeting, and the Allergan Aesthetics APAC & MEA Faculty Summit in Hong Kong. • Injectables and skin quality: From HA Microdroplet Injectables to VYC-12 combined with energy-based devices, Dr. Sylvia and the team emphasized natural, patient-centered results.
• New advisory roles: Dr. Sylvia co-chaired the Project DERMABIOME Advisory Board, which focuses on the gut-skin axis. She also co-chaired Singapore’s HaCa Advisory Board, exploring hybrid biostimulator injectables for structural lifting and collagen stimulation.

• Conferences and summits: Dr. Sylvia presented at the OnabotulinumtoxinA Expert Summit in Shanghai, AMWC Japan, and AMWC Southeast Asia. She shared insights on botulinum toxin, VYC-12 injectables, and skin rejuvenation strategies.
